We’ve all been there. We’ve all seen those days when we put the best effort to plan and structure how the day should go, but then things begin to fall apart. This blog post is to encourage you that in the midst of it all, God is still right there with you.

Now, there’s the storm, and then there’s the bad day. They are similar, but the storm usually lasts longer and involves much more difficult fear-gripping situations. In the days that follow, we would examine stormy seasons, but for this post, the focus is on how to stay productive when all your plans for the day crumble.
2 Corinthians 4:8 [TPT]
"Though we experience every kind of pressure, we’re not crushed. At times we don’t know what to do, but quitting is not an option."
Story Story
It's a story about a single mother with two kids, her neighbor, and a kid from around the block. She called the boy to help her clear her front yard, but she decided to head down to the bank because she didn’t have the cash to pay him. She couldn’t leave her young kids at home alone, so she reached out to her neighbor to take care of them while she quickly dashed to and fro the bank. However, her neighbor had to check out a new house an hour later. That was no problem. It would only take about half an hour to make the entire trip and get back in time to pay the boy and release her neighbor to go for her appointment. She got ready and went on. Perfect plan! Or so she thought.
She got to the highway, and there was terrible traffic. Thirty minutes became two hours. She was running out of fuel and patience. Very frustrated, she turned back and drove home. That took an extra hour. At this point, she already imagined how pissed off her neighbor and the boy was, and that only made her all the more frustrated.
To cut a long story short, here’s the twist to the story that unraveled itself after a while. The house her neighbor was going out to purchase had a faulty foundation and collapsed a couple of days after she missed the deal and would have moved in. The boy planned on using the money she paid him to buy drugs, but the place he was to get it from got raided by the police that day, and he would have been arrested.
"Ask Pastor John Podcast" Quote
"small frustrations and interruptions give us opportunities to rely on God.”
What's the Catch?
It’s incredible how many times our to-do list just gets scrapped up by the realities of life. When all our plans just get tossed out the window because of the situations that spring up during that day, it is essential to remember that we have God.
You see, God knows these random things would happen because more times than not, they will, but what’s important is not the situation but how we react to it. Most of us would be just like that woman and reasonably so. It’s frustrating to watch all our plans shatter right in our faces, but God wants us to remember that we have him. We have the one to whom nothing is a surprise! We mustn't react based on the frustration we feel but bow our heads and ask God to take control of the situation in those moments.
In a nutshell, God wants to see how much we trust him in those moments. He wants to see if we would rely on him to see us through those rough patches.
Romans 8:28 [ESV]
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
How can I show him that Trust?
Proverbs 16:3 [TPT]
"Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed."
The first thing every believer should already do is, “Get your morning’s right.” Give him control of your day from the get-go; let him help you organize that list of things to do. Don’t try to do it yourself.
The second thing is to remember that God is in your boat. Are you going to keep trying to bail out the storm’s water yourself, or are you going to call on him to make the waters still?
So, next time your plans get tossed up, remember to walk in peace and not get worked up or worried but rather commit it into God’s hands. Let him take control.
God bless you!
